A Bit Pissed Off
After work tonight I popped out in the car to pick up a parcel that postman pat had failed to deliver and taken back to Mrs Goggins sorting office (some service parts for the Falco) and then I took my son up to the pharmacy at Tescos to pick up a prescription.
On the way back I stopped at the lights at a T-junction (just after 7pm). When the lights changed I started forward but spotted an ambulance, lights flashing about to cross against the lights - so I stopped - keeping my foot on the brake pedal so the brake lights were on.
After a few seconds stationary, I'm hit up the rear.
Got out and it was a young girl in car. She was really apologetic.
Suggested we swapped details but we were blocking the road so she took my phone number and promised to ring me to sort it out as soon as she got in as she said she only lived around the corner. I took her registration number.
Her car followed mine most of the way home and turned off on our estate.
Now despite her promising to phone through the details, she hasn't called. I really can't believe it. What sort of a person crashes in to you, causes damage, is very apologetic, promises to call to sort things out and then doesn't call ? Unbelievable.
I've been out walking miles around the estate looking for the car but so far, no luck.
Think I'll report it to the police in the morning if she's not called by then - it's surely no different than failing to stop.
Glad I wasn't on the bike or I'd have been in hospital now ...
Did I say I was pissed off?

Obviously I should have made sure I got a bit more in the way of details there and then but what with blocking the road and her taking my number to contact me with her details I was too keen to unblock the junction.
At least I know she was driving a Silver Vauxhall (I think it was probably a Corsa) and the registration was BL52 ELX ..... probably has a bit of front bumper/registration plate damage - maybe with some added red paint ....
Should be traceable

Young lass...
So..
Various crap programmes (probably CSI) and Big Brother is on,
Youll probably get a phonecall in the morning once her Dad has been over to check the damage with her brother, suck thru teeth, check the idiot's guide in the insurance policy and have a cuppa in a crappy china cup with rich tea biscuits.

I work for tarmac, One of my working associates was driving his transit and approaching a left hand bend. A young lady came around the bend way too fast and lost control, Ian had to swerve to try and miss her .He had to go on to the wrong side of the road, but she still hit the passenger side of the van with the back corner of her car. It turned out she was late for a night out with her friends and was rushing and this was her forth accident in two years
. I think a re-test may be in order or even a ban. I would not be very happy if i was riding my bike and she was coming around the bend at me in the same way has i think the worst case scenario would have been innevitable:smt009

Tolerance will be our undoing.
What external influences have been acting on her? Got home and maybe Mum, Dad or Partner told her not to bother as you haven't got her name and address? I'd report her anyway for driving without due care. Doing these things ASAP looks better on your claim form.

Use either the direct gov website or one of the vehicle checking sites to get more info? Plod will only be interested in making sure details are exchanged and probably say nothing cam be done unless she declines their request to do so but that they are to busy or no way of finding her etc etc you need to do it quick in case she fixes hers (paranoiamode =off )
For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.

That is the whole point, the thord party has failed to comply with the law in that she is required toflatlander wrote:Use either the direct gov website or one of the vehicle checking sites to get more info? Stop!
Exchange names and addresses of the owners of the vehicles!
Names and addresses of the drivers of the vehicles!
Registration marks!
and in the event of injury, provide insurance details to anyone with reasonable grounds to so request those details.
The offence is absolute.
If it is reported to the Police as a fail to Stop and report, there is an obligation to at least interview the driver or send of a section 172 to the registered keeper.
The fact that she ran into the back of you is also strict liability on her part.
If you have no joy, then write to the DVLA with a check for £3, in the covering letter explain why you need the information t=regarding the registered keeper and you will get a response with the information usually within 2 - 3 weeks.

The answer to that is clearly subjective but the answer to the corrected version of your comment is a definite "NO"Kwackerz wrote:But the important bit. Was she good looking?
