OIL PRESSURE SWITCH - LEAK

#1 Post by kaisermuldoon » Tue Sep 27, 2011 5:29 pm

I have noticed a small drip of oil coming from the Oil Pressure Switch, it seems to be getting worse. Obviously I need to fix this as soon as possible.

I am wondering if it is as straight forward as removing the old one, drying off the threads applying Loctite and fitting the new switch.

I guess I might lose a fair amount of oil in the process.

Anyone had experienced this problem?

Happened to me - in fact that's the only thing that's failed on me in 50K miles.

Piece of piss

Remove the old, PTFE tape, not Locktite (its a taper thread), screw in new switch NOT, repeat NOT over tightening it (its a taper thread) and no, you wont loose any oil (well, maybe a drop or two but thats all)
