Upgrading Firefox

#1 Post by BikerGran » Thu Sep 01, 2011 4:17 pm

Firefox is offering me an upgrade to 6.0.1 - anyone done this? Just asking cos I remember someone (not on here) upgraded to something or other and hated it!

I'm on 6.01 with no probs apart from losing some of my earlier add-ons.
I do believe it is a tad faster and probably safer without the add-ons until they are updated. (One fer inst was the photobucket uploader)

I'm not sure what add-ons I have - in fact I didn't know I had any but I have the PB uploader - never use it now cos all my pics go on Facebook.

I'll go for it I guess, can't stay on what I've got for ever!

Cheers Sam!

I'm using it too - very little difference from v5 but quite a few differences from the earlier versions.
Took a little while to get used to things in V5/6 and move some of the controls around (it lets you do that) - and I think I prefer it.

i've upgraded from 3 something - don't like the look of it much but I guess I'll get used to it.

Add-0ns that don't fit includeMicrosoft .NET Framework Assistant 1.2.1 - what on earth is that and will I be quite happy without it?

Java looks like it will be a problem but I see there's something on the FF help about that.

And AVG safe search - well I'm going to ditch AVG anyway, that will spur me on to get on with that.

That was my first reaction ... but now I'm used to it. I prefer it (unlike Office 2007 which is the work of Satan himself)

Trouble is, it's all the same colour, just realised that's why I don't loke the look of it - somehow it looks a bit cheap and nasty.

Incidentally, I'm running AVG ( free version) with the link scanner disabled and still rate it.
You may find that is better after the ff update.

Ok, have turned off both elements of the link scanner - what will it not do now that it did before?

:smt006 *clueless*

Edit - AVG is not happy now, there's an exclamation mark on the icon!
