over one year

#1 Post by davebms » Thu Aug 25, 2011 11:23 pm

hello all , well Ive had the falco over a year now, i can tell this from
A. I had to re/insure it
B .the mot had expired
new MOT proper test all good, rear tire err thats ok i think in MOT terms that means its ok to-day but keep an eye on it :smt018 did a 300 ml trip last we/end to have some beers in norfolk (no rain !!) got back still got a rear tire
BUT i'm off to Holland end next month (more beers)will be 1000mls ish . did some research on metzler Z-6 They do have tread wear indicators !!they are opposite TWI marks on the out side of the tire .(NON ON THE LEFT SIDE but found 1 on the right side, pity but they will not go the distance !
i have read posts and thoughts on tires, but i have decided to put Italian tires on me Italian bike (that's got to work :smt017 ) pity as Holland will be a high speed straight line bash and prob flatten the rear
all that aside the falco is the best all rounder that Ive ever had
ONWARDS AND FORWOODS ,but SOME TIMES GROUND SKY,GROUND SKY :smt018

Should I break the news of the country where Pirelli make most of their motorcycle tyres ..............

Germany

Assuming you are talking Pirelli, they certainly get my vote

Good news :smt004

I've not tried the RossoII but have heard very good things about them (and I've not had a Pirelli I didn't like)

Wear indicators aren't that good on the Z6, but once you've had one set you'll learn when they're about to wear through. Mine are just on the point of going through to the next ply now, so will have at least another 500 miles in them. I know this because I got through to the next ply on a rear Z6 in Scotland a few years ago and rode home 500 miles safely before getting it changed.

well i think there's about 500 mls left in mine but i need more than that for my next trip . looking at the info on the web manufacturer recommend 2mm tread at the center mark as they are prone to aquaplane when tread is low :smt017 Ive had about 4600mls trouble free out of em so i'm going to quit will i'm ahead an fit new rubber (part worn z6 front anyone)

Best thing about the Pirellis is that little space on the sidewall where you can put a sticker thing. You don't get that on Bridgestones.
