Am I an old curmudgeon . .

#1 Post by MartDude » Wed Aug 10, 2011 7:44 pm

. . for finding unwelcome the sounds of copulation emanating from my 21-year-old daughter's bedroom?

Home from Uni, with her partner (a decent chap, apart from what he's doing to my daughter)

Far too much information .... though I guess that's the problem you are experiencing too .........

I too would have equal or greater difficulty with it were it any of my 3 boys (24, 22 & 20 yr olds).

errm no you're not,

general generalisation thoughts about children - they don't, but I do wish that they would, have more respect for their parents' feelings (in the matter under discussion). I believe they'll understand eventually, but only when they have children of their own

I can help with a copy of their video if that helps mart?

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

Crikey! Though I guess that Mart and his Mrs loudly banging and grinding away from the other room is one way to make a lasting impression on his parents ..........

My daughter's boyfriend was here when it snowed so we said he could stay the night - we meant on the sofa but realised they had gone to bed in her room so it was too late - she was only 18 and we didn't like it but as she was technically an adult there wasn't much we could say!

lop his balls off..lol.. :smt005

Sorry dude.. Shouldn't joke about it. A friend of mine has daughters and I've known them all since they were babies. The eldest is now 18 and has had a regular boyfriend for over a year. He's a good lad and treats her well, which is all that matters. Her parents won't let him stay over at all, but she's always staying at his place.. They know what's going on (it's only natural) but would rather not have it happen under the roof of their childhood home. I still see her as a cheeky little brat and still watch what I say when they're around.. They probably know more about the meaning of life than me.. haha..

I'm probably being selfish - it's a vivid reminder that my daughter is not really my little girl any more.

She's a very difficult person to please - doesn't suffer fools gladly - so I suppose for them to be still together after nearly 2 years (that I know of) is an indication of his general good-chapness. But I know where the rusty bread-knife is, just in case

TBH Mart if you consented to them sleeping in the same bed then you've not really got a leg to stand on, not saying you have to like it, but what did you expect?

I know I did realise it was a big step for my parents to allow me to share a bed with my partners when at home, but it's different for sons I guess and I did try to demonstrate some control.

It might be worth a face to face discussion with them both (to her alone it might come across dictatorial and to him alone, threatening) after all they are adults. I'm sure it would be embarrassing for all, but if you're all on the same page it could stop any resentment issues arising.

Just my 2p worth, any more and I'll have to start charging you.
