As some of you may know, JT used to live on the end of the road I used to live on at Kiveton Park. He went to the same school as my daughter and was/still is a local hero, so I have always been a fan and followed his progress closely.
The last couple of years have not been to kind to hiim, and it will be really nice to have him back in WSB at Silverstone this weekend.
Everybody seems to think that riders at World Championship level get everything paid for if they get hurt in accidents on the bike, so it was intriguing to hear that he has spent more than £25k of his own money to sort his serious wrist problems after nearly loosing his hand.
I hope he does well and doesn't end up in similar problems to others who cannot seem get on with the BMWs complex electronics, (like Leon).
On a completely different note, other riders have often poked fun at him as he hasn't had many, (if any), high profile bimbo girlfiends, he has always wanted to concentrate totally on his racing career.
There were also some jokes about why he didn't seem to go down the standard route.
He seems to have blown them all out of the water now he seems to have found himself a girlfriend, Katie Melua.
RESPECT!
She as absolutely gorgeous, a great singer and songwriter, who has also made a lot of her own money.
Doesn't he know, he is supposed to end up with a bimbo with an inflated chest, who will move on the some other "star" when his career is over?
Good look over the weekend Jim.

I've been a fan of JT since he was about 15. I was on a track day at Oulton, on my Ducati 888, and circulating (as I thought) fairly rapidly. I'd just exited Foulstons chicane and was approaching the brow of the hill on the main straight (on the way to Knickerbrook) when this CBR600 came past me going AT LEAST 30mph faster than me. It was JT out for an early test ride with his sponsor.
I felt like I should get off and walk after that...
I got back to the pits and tracked him down, and discovered that the pocket rocket was the 15 year old JT. What a lovely lad. My mate (cleverly) got his autograph. JT was embarrassed and didn't know where to put himself, he was just doing what came naturally.
Since then I've followed his career with a very keen interest.
