And the award for the 3rd best Falco mod goes to...

#1 Post by Firestarter » Mon Jul 25, 2011 12:02 pm

Loved the Falco when I got it, a big step up from the Honda Bros I had, although the handling was somewhat "interesting" in comparison.

1st place mod - chucking the stock Metzelers, improved the handling & confidence no-end
2nd place mod - Nitron Sport rear shock, improved the handling & confidence another notch, and still some more to go with some tweaking

So 3rd place goes to - the Oberon clutch slave cylinder. What a difference! I suffer from time to time with swollen fingers & wrists, so there's not always the strength in them that I'd like. Took the Falco out for a quick shake-down blast yesterday, and was more than happy with the effect. 2-finger clutching was fine, no problems with travel, drag or finding neutral. It was like the stocker, but very much lighter. I've even opened the span out a bit, to allow for the reduced pull, allowing me to use 2-fingers without trapping the others.

Now, to find a candidate for 4th place...

first place should be the poxy sidestand.....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Nah, I agree with ditching the OE tyres first.
15t sprocket 2nd due to it's benefit/cost efficiency.
Stand 3rd.
Either rear shock or oil jet mod for 4th.

HOLD IT

we have not checked his credit rating , and some of the suggestions so far have been positively disgustingly cheap to do - and we do have a reputation to maintain!

with out even knowing it, he could well be in the market for a set of carbon wheels.....

1st would be those crappy MEZ3 tyres but these days the horrors of them will only be remembered by a few of us.

2nd must be the sidestand

3rd the rear shock

4th the wheels for OZs (or better)

Value for money are things like the 15t sprocket and oil jet and the dip-on-with-main-beam mod

Clutch slave gets a notable mention but not a top 3 rating

Loads of others of course ........

sounds familiar credit rating, in the last 3 months i have spent a small fortune on my falco, i have never even contemplated spending money on this scale on any other bike i have owned. i am going to have to steady down a bit, :smt011
