Anglesey track day report

#1 Post by szrdave » Tue May 24, 2011 8:57 pm

Well that's the first track day on the Falco done......and I'm really impressed with it! It handled the track better than I was expecting it would, and took me past some 'proper' sportsbikes on the way :smt003

I'd recommend Anglesey, it's a long way away for most people but is worth the trip. Beautiful scenery heading through north wales on the way there, and some fantastic roads if you're not stuck in the car. The track is technical in places but easy enough to learn the basics in a day, and when (not if!) it rains it still grips well and dries quickly.

Here are a couple of videos, the colour is pretty poor as the GoPro didn't like a cloudy day, and looking through a dark tinted screen didn't help!

Penultimate session, maybe I should have put some more fuel in at lunch :smt017

Managed to get 3l of fuel before the final session, so only did half of it:

I did Anglesey earlier this year on mine and it was a complete blast.

I always take a jerry can of fuel with me and make sure the tank is never more than half full. Makes you quicker. Honest. :smt002
I'm right 98% of the time so why worry about the other 3%?

Yeah, I saw the videos you posted. Looked like you were going well!

I've got a 20L jerry can, but it's half full of old petrol I need to dispose of and the local tip won't take it. I thought with a 21L tank I'd get away without having to fill up, turns out the Falco is a thirsty bugger!

You're not wrong. I used A LOT of fuel that day.

It's a brilliant little track though. Even better now it has most of my footpegs, and part of my exhaust system, all over it. :smt003

I'd highly recommend them, loads of fun and you'll notice an improvement in your riding pretty quickly.
You can't be a million miles from Cadwell if you're in West Yorkshire, get it booked!

A word of warning tho, they're really addictive :smt003

I've been advised to do one many times as a way of gaining confidence, would prefer to do one specific to novices/improved riding etc rather than full blown track day.

Croft curcuit's only an hour away if they do them?

Croft's a bit rough, by all accounts (poor surface etc.) You'd be better off going to somewhere like Cadwell. That and Oulton are my favourite UK circuits.
