Track day prep

#1 Post by szrdave » Mon May 09, 2011 8:48 pm

Sticky tyres - Check
Fresh brake fluid - Check
Bendix track pads on the way - Check
Oil & filter ordered - Check

Just over a week to go until the first track day on the Falco, I can't wait!!

I spent a bit of time this afternoon checking how easy it is to prep the bike, and was pleasantly surprised. One bolt to remove each mirror and four to remove the whole numberplate hanger ass.y, although it's easier if you take the tail plastics off first.

The bike looks so much better with the hanger removed, it's a shame I've got nothing to ft in place of the tail light tho:

Bolt down tank cam mount adapted to fit the Falco, some trimming is needed:

And a quick test, good angle and no vibes but I could do with a clear screen:

Roll on next Thursday :smt004 :smt003

Bike's looking good and I liked the video from that view point. Quality looked ok too.

Front indicators - ahem....
Passenger pegs - ahem....
Don't put off 'till tomorrow what you can enjoy today

Looking good Dave, be sure to send us the link to the vids when done.

What track you doing?

If you've got a paddock stand take the sidestand off too, it's been known to drag

Yeah, I'd like to take them of but it's not worth the hassle with the indicators. And I haven't got anything to replace the peg hangers with...yet!

The camera is a GoPro wide (not the HD version), the quality is pretty good (better before uploading to youtube) and the sound comes out well too, if a bit quiet.

Anglesey GP, first time there. Camping two nights so really hoping the weather is good!

No paddock stand unfortunately, and there are a couple of decent left-handers. Hopefully there won't be a repeat of this:

where I decked the fairing of my CBR600 out and almost (I thought it had gone) binned it :smt003

A ‘tasteful’ ‘performance’ addition by the previous owner.

Rare* and sought after** , I’m sure I could do you a good price?

*Hopefully
**I doubt it

...but you'll be a lot more noticed with them Redline ones on, i love the red into black but not keen on the yellow logo, but hey we digress looking forward to the Vid too...be a while before i have the guts (and permission) to do a track day :smt009

BTW how have you survived this lot with a stock bike for so long? :smt017

QUESTION- Can pipes be sprayed profesionally with a special paint in a similar look???

Yes we must seek this man and pay homage as a lesson to all others who have fallen foul of the 'black knight'

Whistles quietly and reaches for the "Assimilation kit"

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...
