Unmarked police cars in Norfolk

#1 Post by Aladinsaneuk » Thu Mar 31, 2011 5:21 pm

Seems that Norfolk have some silver mondeos with very narrow light gantries on them that look like roof racks

And Suffolk have at least one unmarked silver vectra

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

I came across a couple of unusual "unmarked cars" a few days ago.
Coming off the M1 at J31 for Sheffield Parkway, just before 9am, and there was a long queue on the slip road. It turned out that there was a white van parked in the right hand of the three lanes on the roundabout above with a marked police car alongside it with just a driver, but could not see anybody else, in the van or anywhere else.
Then heard two tone horns approaching but couldn't see anything even when got very close. Turned out it was a completely unmarked BMW 5 series estate in dark metalic grey, with full M Sport lowered suspension and big wheels, twin exhaust but no model markings. All rear windows were very dark tint, (the sort you get nicked for). Could see just one uniformed driver through the front screen as it approached, front side windows also pretty dark but not as dark as the back. Blue lights back and front but no way you would see them or any other identity without them being switched on. The driver stopped in the only remaining lane for a brief chat with the driver then moved on towards Rotherham.
I started to move again and 100 metres further along at the top of Rother Way the nearside lane is blocked by another white van parked up and an identical BMW 5 estate parked behind that with with blue lights on.
Nobody in the car, nobody in the van, but back doors were shut.

Police drug delivery drivers picking up a new supply from the "suppliers" white vans, but checking the produce in the back of the van first??!!??

Can't think what was going on, but the estates would have made great drug runner's cars, much quicker getaway car than a blacked out RangeRover.
