New battery delivered, tax in the post...

#1 Post by GRFalco » Thu Mar 24, 2011 12:25 pm

... soon, very soon!!!! :smt003

Just realised my bike will be 10 years old this year, crumbs I think it's nearly done 5000 miles as well.

Common thread!
My Falco is already 10, and will be 11 in a few months, but has done 30K plus.
I also got a battery in the post, (well UK Mail), yesterday, but I was not in so will pick up on way home tonight.
It is to replace the defunct "Pile of Shite" Yuasa YTX 14 unit that I fitted 20 months ago at a cost of £65. (it just suddenly stopped holding a charge and battery conditioner made no difference).
My thinking then was get a good battery, (Yuasa are often standard factory fit units), and the original battery on the Falco had lasted nearly 8 1/2 years.
Won't be buying another Yuasa.
Have gone for a Dynavolt Gel battery, let you know how I get on with it.

That would make steering it difficult.

Ooooh it all makes sense now...

The Ducks he was asking about before..

GR, the Ducks attach to the bar ends. Once you take off you steer using the Ducks.

Yuasa YTX14 is the original fit battery - mine lasted me 5yrs before I replaced it (with a Yuasa YTZ14).

Sounds like Howard was unlucky with his.

Put one on my kwak before the winter and it's been golden, started at -11 with no aggro.
Also put one on the Falco, bit early to say but it seems fine. Started fine after a week with the alarm on and no optimate.

My Yuasa is OK too. Holds charge well and starts the bike when asked to. What more could I want?

Oh yeah. I paid £35 delivered. Which was nice. :smt003
I'm right 98% of the time so why worry about the other 3%?

As I said Andy, the previous one lasted nearly 8 1/2 years, as far as I know it was the original one.
I seem to be in an unlucky run at the moment, so it's about par for the course, also have expensive car problems ongoing!

She Lives!!!!!

Went for a little blast on Sunday.

Need to get the old girl serviced nicely though because she hasn't had much attention recently.

I'll have to get the bike looked at too. I'll perhaps give Carl a call as he's only 20 mins away.
