modded mid section - results of the arse dyno....

#1 Post by Aladinsaneuk » Wed Mar 23, 2011 2:14 pm

amongst other things, I have fitted a modded mid section to my exhaust system

This was a modification originally carried out by Renegade to milles when they were being raced - subsequently other folk have also produced these mid sections - and a chap in the UK is now producing them.

details of the effect these have can be found at http://apriliaperformance.myfastforum.o ... highlight=

so - 10bhp in the mid range :)

Now I do have 54mm throttle bodies fitted and a fair few other bits and bobs have been added so this is the results on my bike only

The mid range - always good with the 54's, is now smoother - and the power rolls on very swiftly. The other real effect i noticed is the performance in 6th gear - the engine has always delivered power easily, but now it is smoother for the lazy biker - pootling along in 6th at 70 then whapping the throttle open gives instant return - a noticeable improvement from before.

I have noticed no real difference at low speeds, low revs.

I guess the real answer as to gain will come from a dyno run and having a custom map - I suspect that it will be a very nice smooth curve :)

I think it is a worthwhile mod for those of us with a mille exhaust system

I assume youve gone for the double modded pipe rather than the single modded pipe?

I think we've all had more than enough pictures of Falcopops Arse-Dyno ...

However, yesterday I was sent a photo from the Eastern Swamplands and can reveal the modified mid section ...... though probably of of greater interest will be the featured Blue Tie ..... which, I I'm led to believe, is the height of fashion in that part of the world ....

Or is the blue tie the actual plan for the exhaust modification

No the blue tie is the Exhaust Modification, (a better swamplands mod), the bits of pipe were just created on photo editor.

Seriously, it sounds interesting Pete, especially as you would not usually expect smoother pick up with the larger throttle bodies.
Then again the relatively low compression of the Falco motor possibly heelps?
But would have thought that would also stop it achieving a 10bhp increase without going for the higher compression Mille heads.

nod howard

this is only how i think it helps/works

the two additional pipes act as a scavenger port - and that helps with exhaust gas flow? possible with with exhaust compression? Certainly I had a long chat with Mark Harris of MHP who also used this mod when he was racing.... he was not specific about how it works, but it just does!

I looked at the dyno charts that were listed above and the truth is there :)
