Another clutch problem
I have now managed to confuse myself. Last weekend I changed the clutch slave cylinder seal, and now have clutch drag in neutral. I have bled the system 3 times, and the clutch lever operates normally as expected.
Symptoms are as follows:
Vibration through the handlebars in neutral, goes away when pulling the clutch lever
Initially hard to get into second, but that may just be oil temperature
Do not have to pull clutch lever very much at all to allow gear changes up and down.
I've checked the footpeg linkage, disconnected it and moved the selector by hand and it made no difference.
I did remove the clutch cover and pulled out the diaphragm and rod to check for damage and didn't notice anything. The bearing looks intact and serviceable.
This has got me stumped, so if anyone has a clue, then it would be greatly appreciated. The only upside is that on the move the gear changes are super smooth.

Yeah, I tried that as well, which was what has confused me. It feels like the clutch plates are partially engaged with no pull on the clutch lever, but as I pull it 3/4 of the way, the vibration disappears. It doesn't seem to have an affect on the rev counter, but there is a slight change in tone on the engine.

I did try that and also managed to lose the grub screw at the same time. I was thinking that I may have backed it off too much. Will have to give it another go tomorrow, as my spare screws turned up today.
I think I may have to flush out the master cylinder, as when I did the slave, there was quite a bit of perished rubber floating around the inside.

When i bled mine, i took the whole master cylinder off the bar and made sure that there was an upward incline all the way to the cylinder.
Any air then travels back up the pipe as you force the fluid in from the bottom.
Other than this, is it possible that the diaphram and rod are not seating correctly?

It could be a possibility. I'm going to strip it down again over the weekend to see what's going on in there. Could be something catching along the rod. Thinking about it though, if the rubber cap in the slave cylinder that fits over the end of the rod is worn, could that possibly cause it? ie the rod is shifting too far to the left.

Could be an issue with the rod - and I have heard of a few problems where the rod sticks a bit.
Particularly with the vibes and short lever travel, you haven't over-filled the master cylinder have you?
I think it's already been said but it may be that the little screw adjuster on the clutch lever needs backing off a bit (NOT the span adjuster BTW)
