Light On but no one home !!

Ok thought i'd pay some attention to the bike so off i went to the garage to fire her up and a quick once over . Took a while and a reset on the clocks again but she fired up and all was well.............................or so i thought !!

The bloody brake light is stuck on , have had her moving forward and back (???

) thinking something had stuck on but everything is fine.............any ideas what to check next or is there a "special" trick to getting it to turn off , apart from taking the bulb out !!!

Had a similar thing with the Fut the other year. Turned out to be the switch on the front brake - just a bit of crud in the mechanism - part no. 7 in this drawing

Don't know if the Falco one is the same.

If you're very patient, have good eyesight (or reading glasses), and have small long-nosed pliers (or good tweezers) and screwdrivers, it's possible to dismantle, fettle & re-assemble this unit. But be careful not to let the little spring inside make a bid for freedom.

PS. I suppose the rear brake switch could also suffer from crud-jamming.

My money would be on the rear switch. Mine was stuck on when I got this Falco, a bit of WD40 freed it off though. I removed the footrest hanger and took the assembly off so I could get at it properly and make sure it was nice and clean

Had the same problem a couple of months ago. The rubber had perished on the front switch by the brake lever and caused the pin to stick in the on position. Replaced it with a spare. You should hear it click when you apply the lever.

I've had this - in my case the front brake lever pivot needed cleaning and re-greasing to that it returned far enough to release the switch.

WD and some spraying for me then ......good job it's a lovely day may have to take it out for a ride later. Thanks for the advise lads !!

One of the only two faults I've had with the Falco, (other one was the early plastic sidestand switch breaking).
I ride all year round and this brake switch gets caked in crap.
Mine was past WD40 so needed replacement. Was going to buy new then one cropped up on eBay and I grabbed it a couple of years ago.
Have kept spraying it ever since!

Well have sprayed both front and back now and still no luck .......brake light still on so looks like i'm going to have to start taking things apart , i can smell trouble from here !!!

must be something in the air....my brake light keeps sticking on as well. I'm sure it's the front micro switch, tried the WD 40 fix which did release it, but after a couple of pulls on the front lever it stays on again. I'll be looking for a replacement, but not from Aprilia £18+p&p - what a joke- do the RSV / Tuono ones fit our birds?

Think it's going to be an eBay run for me and like you am hoping that the others fit as well cause the Falco spares aren't looking too good at the moment !!!

Lever Pivot Pin .... as I said earlier, remove, clean, grease, refit.

Might not be the problem but it has been for me - and is very easy to sort out.

Yahooooooo all lights working again .

Front brake with the little pin at the front ( hope that makes sense cause it's a good as it's going to get )HAD poped out so just had to adjust that and away we go .......Then just to make sure i re-sprayed again with WD , now all i'm waiting for is the weather to get above freezing and i'm out and about ...

And yes i know i should be riding all year round but heaters inside a car win ever time at this time of year !!

I replaced the rear one with a pressure switch version, much better.

On a side note, Gilles rearsets chew up these, a weak point on the design
