guaging interest

#1 Post by Aladinsaneuk » Wed Jan 19, 2011 10:51 am

been chatting with will re some heel guards

personally I like the ones shown here:

http://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/show ... 71&page=33

i have exchanged messages with BerlinKowgirl and she told me that they were made for her

i appreciate that they are not everyone's taste - but would anyone else be interested in some?

if there is sufficient interest then will will about costings etc

(i am cross posting this to assorted forums - i am unsure as to what other aprilias these heel guards would fit too but...)

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

I've been here ages.. It's just that my engineering background had passed most of you by up until recently..lol.. :smt039

And yes, more or less any design can be put on them.. Even your name if you so wanted.. (although I dont think anyone here is that narcissistic..maybe punt that one to the RSV boys.. :smt003 )
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handle bars to the saddle.

I am really surprised - = its a bit of a marmite one - people either love them or hate them - no middle ground!

is all down to what will wants to do/costs charges etc

and alloy or stainless for me btw

I Like the idea, but I have enough problems with the current ones catching on the velcro on my boots, perhaps a differnt design would be better for me.
Will do you do lazer cutting? is it vertor files (EPS, DXF) you use?
I've seem a couple of these files with Aprilia logos on the web, easily modified if some one has a new idea, ridersite special? :smt002

I'm afraid I don't like Marmite either Paul.

Partly because they are a bit too fussy, but also as Noelio has said, problems catching boots etc.

But then again, what would you expect from somebody who still has standard indies.

Sorry.

P.S.
If you can do a similar one, changed slightly so it looks like a North American Indian Chief in head dress, (rather than a lionhead), so you could sell them in thousands to Hog owners worldwide.
They would then look ideally suited to the bike.
Could also do smaller versions so they could be applied to jackets and saddle bags. You could even have slightly different head dresses, so different chapters could be subtly different.
Sorry Paul

I do Waterjet cutting.. Same sort of thing but am not limited on the materials I can cut. DXF, DWG, IGES etc.. :smt001

Pretty much any design can be done. I'll do a price for the lion head to give you an idea.. :smt002

What about the 'other' lion head ? The shorter snouted one. I prefer that myself.
Always be prepared for sponteneity.
