Oxford solariser, solar powered battery charger

Hi all, Just thought I'd give you an update on the above.

I bought it earlier in the year and have had the Falco on life support since I got it. I was a bit concerned about whether it would keep the battery topped up in the darker months, but I went out yesterday and checked. I turned on the key and was amazed to be greeted by a clock still displaying MPH :smt001 I'm still thinking I'll get a new higher powered battery next year to aid starting turnover, but I am pleased with the solariser.

I have no electricity in the garage so had no choice but to get a solar powered one, and this is working fine. Plus I have the added benefit that if I go away anywhere I can stick it in a tank bag or pannier and have life wherever I may be.

I was looking at these on Ebay.. well a cheaper chinky variant, but the better chinky ones..

Do you know what wattage it is? I was looking at these with a view to sticking it in the BMW while im away as the missus uses my Nissan, just curious which amount of oomph the solariser has?

Does that mean it does require a charge controller on smaller batteries?

Might this one be more suitable for bikes?

Possibly, I was hoping that one would do both car and bike.

If the wattage is 4 on the solariser i'll be tempted to sack the chinese option and go for the solariser

I'm not sure what the wattage is on the solariser, the one listed above is the one I have though, I paid about £30 for it from an online shop (much cheaper than they were on e-bay).

I would assume the wattage is dependant on the amount of sunlight, however mine charges even when it's heavily overcast (again not sure of the charging rate)

Bloody right bargain city! Shit! The battery on the cage is on it way out.. Priced up a new one not long back and it was in the £90's.. That site it's half the price.. Think i'll get one ordered up! :smt003

.... and above it too - it's a different shape and needs a bit of top-packing under the clamp that holds it in place.

I take it back about the solariser, the clocks on the bike haven't reset but, there's not enough power to start the engine.

At least it's better than the clocks stopping working, I may get another one and wire them in parallel
