Number plate light and number plate

#1 Post by Falconihlist » Thu Dec 23, 2010 9:25 pm

Just fitted the tail tidy this evening with a bit of imagineering along the way, and fitted the little number plate light and surprise surprise it didn't work. Tried the old one, and that didn't work either. Made sure that everything else was functioning and no fuses blown, so I'm thinking it hasn't been working for a while, which is bizarre as it has only recently been MOT'd-

Is there anywhere else I could wire it into (rear lights) so I don't get caught out?

On top of that my nice new tail tidy has made the number plate defunct due to the indicator width. any recommendations to where to get a legal replacement not quite as wide as standard?

I did manage to laugh though, removing the 8mm nuts from the light holder and they both sheared with minimal effort.

number plate light is not actually an mot requirement - but, iirc, if fitted must work as far as team filth are concerned... so remove it

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

That's fitted as OE.. Which they were.. So you'll need it. :smt002
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handle bars to the saddle.

actually will - i think that even if OE, it is still, if fitted must work....

think that was down to some vehicles that are in the uk, not having some stuff fitted as standard in their own countries..... seem to recall it was reversing lights but i could well be wrong

(Is one reason why you do not HAVE to have mirrors on a bike....)

i await the corrections!

Mine has no numberplate light and will still pass it's MoT's.

I cut indents out of the sides of my plate to accommodate one set of indicators I tried, that passed the MoT as well as no lettering was cut into.

the last time we discussed this i had a word with my tester who said no plate lights don't apply to the bike test.
