Personally, at the speeds I ride at, (not in 30's obviously), Im pleased about the lack of Plod on the roads...
Does piss me off though.
Mobiles being used in cars would, unfortunately, be near impossible to Police.
Driver education is the problem imo.
That goes for a few other things as well!
A couple o three year back I found myself
very nearly at the dead-end of the stick due to a driver using his mobile.
I was overtaking a line of cars up a dual carriageway, a couple of cars doing the same in front of me.
As I caught them up, (accelerating quite hard up from a roundabout on my ol zx7r), the silver Merc at the back of the queue gets impatient and decides to overtake.
While Im doing about ninety right next to his right hand passenger door!
Split second mirror checks reveal, as I decelerate hard, that another car is getting very close, very quick, in my lane!
There is also on coming traffic.
I scan his windows fervantly hoping to catch a glimpse of him looking at me through a mirror, but nothing.
Then I see a passenger through the headrests begin to gesticulate at the driver.
Then, as I come along side his door, the driver turns to look at me.
Mobile phone gripped tightly in his left hand.
Eyes bulging madly at my general direction.
Still not adjusting his steering to avoid spreading me n the 7r up the side of the oncoming cars or through the fast approaching traffic island.
So, boxed in, a big silver Merc fast reducing the width of my lane, a mental, dumbstruck loon at the wheel and with no where else to go, (except maybe Hell), I kick the drivers-side door in with two well placed, Sidi-armoured WHACKS, (nearly topple the bike the opposite direction!)!!!
I mean I
really kicked his door in!
Would deffo need a newun!
Id be surprised if would even open again!
Needless to say, my actions
did snap him out of his apparent brainlock and he swerved the other way and almost mounted the kirb!
I left him with a middle-finger salute over my shoulder and sped away.
Pants a little browner.
Dickhead deserved worse.
Spose thats my contribution to the 'Think Bike' campaign...

So the new law re driving while using a mobile is going to crack down on drivers is it? Dont make me laugh, I have seen at least 5 car and van drivers today busy yapping away while in town. If you look at them while you are on your bike all you get is a lot of mouthing off. It is quite obvious that they know that unless the law is there on the spot (and lets face it seeing police around in quantity is as rare as rocking horse manure, they are too busy filling in reports back at HQ) they will carry on regardless and if they flatten you, well it is your word against theirs I suppose.
