York Moors ride yesterday

#1 Post by furygan man » Fri Oct 08, 2010 8:17 am

As the weather was so good and i had the fortune to be off i headed up the the Yorks Moors.

Lunched in Helmsley, then road to Kirkbymoorside escaping the day trippers buy heading up the Hutton-le-Hole to Whitby road, 15 mles of perfect TT type road, only saw 1 other bike, all you have to do is watch for sheep!! Fish and chips on the Quayside in Witby and then journey back same way then via Thirsk and and arking down through Wensleydale....just waiting for fog to clear before heading off somewhere else today :smt001

That all looks very familiar - takes in most of my usual stomping ground.

Next time Furyganman, try heading north out of Helmsley to Stokesly. Now that really is like a TT run - They call it the Bilsdale TT route. :smt023

I nearly did head that way, but wasn't sure how to loop over and right but still stay in the Park, many years ago i used to work in Malton so was doing some of it by memory, it was a spur of the moment thing, the bikes usually kept down in Leics but bought it up on the off chance there would be some good weekends left in the year and it all came good yesterday...too much fog around today :smt012

I'll be back on the next year for some tips of routes then as i guessed there's a few of you in the East and West Ridings with some knowledge
