Here's a thought,

#1 Post by Nooj » Fri Oct 01, 2010 6:50 pm

How difficult would it be to use Dorsoduro forks and swingarm to make a Falco GS? Bit of ally welding for the rearshock mount, bash plate from a Capo, ditch the fairing lowers, add Tuono bars, high level or under seat pipes... What do you reckon, good winter project?

Why bring the Falco into the equation? - might just be easier to start with a Dorso and mod that.

Alternatively he could just go to a scrap merchant

I wondered wtf it was doing in the falco forum. :smt002
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

No, I see where Nooj is coming from.

You start with a Falco 'cos it's cheap as chips and more powerful.

Longer forks (Tiger or similar) and a Tuono top yoke and bars and you're nearly there. Easy to change back as well.

I was thinking of something similar with a custom subframe to enable easy pannier fitment and you'd have a GS BMW beater.

Obviously it'll never happen but it's as good a pipedream as any.

?Start with a Caponord? Falco/Tuono engine, beef up the forks & back end??

If nothing else, it'd give you the benefits of a centre stand & panniers . . .

Interesting concept. However, I like the idea of starting with a Capo. I fancy one of these myself and I found a forum thread somewhere about a guy who fitted a Falco engine to one. I'll bet that was a hoot.

Could always buy that new 1200 Dorso
Always likes the dorso swingarm, same design as the falco frame

That's what I was assuming - was a bit confused by the comments about the Falco being more powerful.

That said it won't be as cheap as a Falco or a Capo.

Capo engine's only 95 hp (IIRC), but more torque. Closer to a Fut than a Falco/Mille engine (heads, cams )

Returning to Nooj's original post - sounds like a jacked-up Falco. Could do weird things to centre of gravity?? And where would you fit the snorkel and transfer box?

Indeed but neither are going to rival the 1200 Dorso
