CLUTCH JET WARNING! - Downgraded to Code Yellow

#1 Post by Nooj » Tue Sep 07, 2010 12:48 am

There are only 35 or so of the .40 jets in the country with no more immediately available. Aprilia Performance have about 7 or 8 of them and are looking to acquire the rest soon. There are other Falcos on other forums after these don't forget, so buy now or be prepared for a loooong wait.

Neither have I. :smt005
It's the gear slot that is always available when you are coming down the box.
It sits between 2nd and 1st.
It's also the gear that is not there when going up from 1st.
When going that way, you go straight to 2nd.
Think this must be some kind of programmable 'box.
How did Aprilia achieve this?

I can still clearly remember the "day" when I managed to get neutral from first, I had owned the bike for 18 months to 2 years I seem to remember.
Seriously, I've just got used to doing this now, so it never really bothers me, but I will consider ordering a clutch jet from Griff anyway before they're all gone, how much are they?

* Some bikes are worse than others.
* It is easier to find neutral going down from second.
* It is easier to find neutral while the bike is still moving.

The last two points above were tactics employed before the 40 jet was fitted.
Fitting the 40 jet allowed neutral to be selected when stopped and either going up or down the box.
It's not always completely trouble free when the bike is cold but most of us have found it to be a big improvement.

For those that changed it and didn't find an improvement, from what I've heard, they probably fall into the following categories:
  • * Those that have a Barnett Clutch conversion (dunno if this is universal for those with Barnet Clutches but there are several reports of this)
*Those that have an additional problem (eg clutch needs bleeding, problem with the clutch push rod etc)
Howard .... brace yourself - I know this is going to be tough to take for a Yorkshireman - but from what I remember the price of one of these is about a tenner (might have been less)
Maybe someone knows the recent pricing ..... or call Griff and ask him ....

I do believe that griff has now solved how to get the old ones out....

run the engine till it is hot - then try it... wear gloves as the oil will be warm

I believe that he may well be giving a demonstration of this soon

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

This is on my shopping list so I may place the order with Griff for the bits I need from his shop sooner rather than later!

I know how Griff does it.
He did mine a couple of months ago.
