Is it me, or would that be one which was destined for the US market, I thought that only the good old U.S of A was obligated to have the reflectors on the side of the front fender & side of the number plate holder.
Ignore me if I am wrong, someone with much more knowledge will be along shortly.

Blimey.. One of those little gems that crop up from time to time. Now, do you buy it and ride it like it was built for, or keep the uniqueness of it under wraps for 20 years and hope they become collectable.. hmm.. I know what i'd do.. Chop it!.. haha..
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handle bars to the saddle.
Does look like an Import from US or Canada with those side reflectors.
I would imagine the suspension seals etc will have dried and will weep at the first sign of normal road use and like mart says, various hoses will be suspect.
I suppose it may be worth the investment to own 00001 but is it prestigious enough to keep mothballed, is it even the first one off the line?
I think i'd just ride it.. after getting the rubber stuff replaced and the recall for the fuel line done..

I think it should have bags, yes.
I reckon it's a great opportunity to get a potentially mint bike - but it'll need some fettling. I'd be worried about all the rubber bits having perished, it'll take a few quid to get on the road and sort the recalls/essentials.
I wonder if there would be any registration complications.

Hmmm ......

..... so why are the tyres scrubbed in
Then there's the selling point of a unique VIN - even better, I've a unique VIN too (I thought that was the point of them).
That said it does seem a valid VIN

.... though I'm shocked the first off the line was sold to public in Northern Ireland .... there again, maybe pre-launch builds have some difference in numbering and they are about somewhere too.

Anyway, quite interesting

I think you'd be surprised as to how well all the hoses, rubbers etc.. will have stood up over the years.
If the bike has been dry stored and away from extremes of temperature it should be fine and would probably start up no problem. I've seen many bikes stored for many years from new and their condition (even the bits you think would perish) have been in great nick.
As to riding it though...................its No 00001 after all, what if you binned it??? heartbreaking! and where would I store it if I didn't ride it?
So why do I find myself so drawn to having a bid?
Bikes are a drug and I just can't shake the habit (thank god)

I've spent 50% of my life riding motorcycles, the rest I've wasted!
