Problem with Motrax indicators
My Motrax arrow style indicators seem to stop working intermittently, its usually one at a time so tonight the left rear stopped working but a couple of weeks ago the front left stopped.
If I wiggle them around they start up again but this is obviously no good if they stop whilst on the move.
I also noticed the flash rate changes intermittently, could my relay be at fault? I did fit a cheapo 21w relay when I fitted the indicators.
Any ideas anyone please?

Intermittent fault on the indicators you say? Sounds like a job you usually give to the apprentice/red-ass Craftsman...
"Are they working?"
"Yes...No...Yes...No...Yes...No... " and so on
On a more helpful note, how old are they? If they have been on a while check for corrosion or dodgy connections. Aftermarket indicators, even those from supposedly reputable companies like Motrax and Oxford, are generally only cheap crap.

Have they filled with water and shorted out or corroded? You did put them on the right way up with the drain holes at the bottom didn't you?

Yes the drain holes are at the bottom and there’s no corrosion and all connectors are fine. They didn't fill up with water I just noticed some condensation on the inside of the lenses.Nooj wrote:Have they filled with water and shorted out or corroded? I checked all the connections last night and fiddled around with the relay and they seem to be working okay for now. I might swap them for some clear Aprilia indies.
Thought I'd ask just to be sure, I've seen a few bikes with indicators upside down and half full of water. The owners didn't realise there were drain holes in them.
About the only Motrax thing I'd recommend is their indicator relay oddly enough, I put one in the Falco a few years ago and in the Fazer when I had that and both stayed working perfectly well over the years.

I like my BikeIt ones. Small, but VERY bright! They do a few different styles, but I prefer these:

They come in long or short stem and have an LED that shines out through the orange tip, a nice touch to get you seen from the side.
Or if you've got room on your credit card there's always Rizoma

It'll need what it needs in terms of weights - just depends on how out of balance the thing is without them and what needs adding to sort it out.
Sometimes you find tyre fitters that are not so good and don't put the heaviest part of the tyre opposite the heaviest part of the rim (the valve) and rather than these things helping to offset each other, they compound the problem and you need more weights. Less weights are desirable but good balance is essential.
Don't worry about the chicken strips - they will go with time - even KFC manage to shift theirs

As an aside on those Rizoma things (very nice but 40 quid each?)
I noted their lever protector things.

How over engineered? thats thinking things waaaaaaay to deep! But must be good for bar room banter. No doubt there's as deep a reasoning behind the indicators shape and styling too..
