Just got a new wireless router. Can get connected fine, can link the computer into the router by cable or wireless, can get the router to connect to the internet, the problem is the time it's taking to download a webpage by either cable or wireless. I can connect to certain pages quickly, but they all seem to be SSL connections. If I plug the modem back in (as I'm doing now), no problem.
I'm running Norton Internet Security (yes, I know

), but nothing else of significance.
Any suggestions?

disable norton and try again - if it works fine, then it is the firewall elelment that is slowing things down and you will have to adjust the settings
if not, then check the firewall settings built into the router.....

Had a go, managed to find how to diable the firewall on the router (the router interface webpage isn't obvious) and on a "clean" pc (no Norton etc, just WinXP), but to no avail.
Going to try it on a different line with different ISP, if that doesn't work it's going back (unless anyone else has a suggestion?)

A few other things spring to mind.
How far are you from the router?
Are you broadband and how many other people around you are using the same setup?
Do you live in a newish house if you're a fair way from the router?

Gio, it's not the wireless set-up that's the problem - even with direct cable connection, it's slower than 56k dial-up. The router just isn't supplying the info quickly to the PC for some reason.
I think it's going back, try a different model and see what happens. Cheers for the advice, guys
