Havent seen the news the last few days, but was completely mortified to find out Hurricane Higgins has passed away.

http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/ ... 88530.html

Im truly shocked and stunned, He was my childhood hero, my favourite snooker player.

Rest in peace Alex. You wont be forgotten.

He was always a character, drunk or sober!

The man who had it all and pissed it away. If you can, do.. He could, so he did.. Fair play to the man I say. Shame the way he died though. A shadow of his former self.

I didn't like him.

Sad for him to go the way he did though. Snookers equivalent of George Best. So much talent wasted so early.
I'm right 98% of the time so why worry about the other 3%?

I always thought he was a complete t**t, so I won't be a hypocrite and change my mind now.

A fantastic snooker player of course, probably one of the best I've seen. He singled handedly brought long potting to the table and pulled off shots that are commonplace now but were "out of this world" then. But as a bloke.........what a waste of space

Champion snooker player and champion piss-artist.
Flawed genius as is so often the case.
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

Sorry but don't give a toss about what he did outside the sport, he was just the most exciting snooker player I had ever seen.
The first time I saw him live was absolutely unbelievable. As the adrenaline built up in a big break he would be running around the table to take the next shot, not wanting to wait for the referee to respot the colours and each new shot in the break just seemed to get better.
An amazing snooker player.
