Cobra front braided lines

#1 Post by old git » Sat Jun 12, 2010 8:13 am

Bought them off fleabay couple of weeks ago, for a bit of RnR last night, put them up front on the bike.
Now this is the twin 'race line' set-up, 2 separate lines not like the combined OEM set-up which includes a T jnt.

Anywho, both lines out the box the same lenght, funny thinks me, surely one should be slightly longer to run from right / left across the bike, fit them anyway & one to the left caliper is really only just long enough to reach.
It is no under tension, but am concerned while riding if the front end unloads, it could be.
Anyone else used these (thought someone had on one of the forums), any thoughts on the lengths???
Thinking I will have to revert to stock ones, good job I didn't bin those!

I have a Cobra clutch line, they are the people who were/are making lines for HEL.

I got my brake lines changed when I've put the clipons over the top yoke, ordered a set of race Mille lines +3cm from HEL. I went ott with the 3cm it turned out but they work ok.

Have you tried contacting Cobra? Maybe they've got an error in the database or simply someone messed up?

So, Cobra Performance have answered today, so better than I expected.
'Sorry must have been wrongly packed'.

I took the lines off again, measured them & at best they are 630mm long.
According to their own e-mail should have beeb two sizes in the pack, 645mm & 665mm.
OEM measures 640mm & 710mm.
So even by their own sizing, longest run is going to still be 40mm to short!, will fit but not enough slack to clamp into the same position below the triple clamp as OEM.
They are sending another pack out Monday, but you have all been warned, I am already waiting for the fact they will be OK but shorter than stock.
Before anyone says about it, bike was bone stock when I bought it with the exception of indicatiors.
So no, there are no millie forks, etc, etc, etc.

Mille forks are the same anyway!

Glad it's being sorted - sounds like a genuine mistake ..... doesn't stop the frustration though!

OK, so to be fair to Cobra, they did despatch a custom line to fit the L/H side to correct the error of sending me 2 short ones for the R/H side.
Some of the replies to the e-mails & the 'note' when I rec. the replacement line were a bit sarcastic :smt014 , but working in manufacturing I can understand that suppliers get hundreds of calls like 'its the wrong one, I didn't rec. the parts' etc.etc. where people are trying it on.
This was genuine mistake on their part, but now they are in Bulgaria is to far for them to come see or whatever.
Anywho, they sent me the correct length, came in good time so mistake was rectified.
Lines look really good, was all well packaged so from a quality point of view, looks good.
If you do order, just make sure to put the measurements / ref. in the remarks section to make sure.

Send them the wrong line/s back with an equally sarcastic note and a cheap tape measure, highlighting the bit of string they currently use as a measuring device mustve started to fray and they might wish to use a tape measure (see enclosed) like most companies use, in order to get it right next time.

my tim, u are as grouchy as a nurse manager these days - not getting to play hide the sausage enough??

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...
