Diesel compression tester

Help

They are ridiculously expensive and i need to do a quick check. The Brand new engine on my P100 love wagon has developed a fault (shit loads of black smoke, loss of some power, will not tick over) I am hoping it is the pump so i need to check the compression to decide if i need to rip it apart and replace pistons etc.

Can someone lend me one pleeeeaaaaasssse.

This car has turned into a moneypit

Thanks in advance

Hire centres often do them, if nobody has one to lend.

Pity youre not local or i'd borrow one off our REME and pop it round for a test, unfortunately kinda impossible cos of location.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handle bars to the saddle.

The engine is a Ford Endura 1.8 TD currently fitted in a P100 The block was new out of the box 2000 miles ago and the head is reconditioned.

I have tried speedy hire and hss in my area and the don't hire that sort of tool out which is a bit dissapointing.

Not tried doing a seach yet...somewhere must do it.

Thanks guys.

have you checked the cam timing.depending on year has it got an egr valve fitted or a mass air flow sensor.all three of these will give the same symtons.

First of these three to check for me would be the EGR valve, they're a pain in the arse!
Sometimes it can be possible to free them up for a while with a thump.
Problem is they can also knacker up the turbo when they go as well.

It hasn't got an egr of mass airflow sensor. It is a basic airbox to turbo to engine setup.

I still haven't had a look at the car yet as i am pissed off with it and can't be arsed till the weekend.

Damn thing has cost me some money....I'm on my 3rd axle.......

And to top it off my bike is still off the road so i have to ride a ducati
