Service intervals??

#1 Post by furygan man » Tue Jun 01, 2010 9:41 am

Hello (again)

When i bought my Falco (X '01) last October there wasn't a service book, I do have the owners manual, the guy i bought it from purchased it from Fozia Italia in Silverstone, they serviced it it at 8,500 miles (included printout in sale), I bought it with 9,500k on. I've since put 500 on it.

I don't intend on putting many miles on this year, my question is-

1) What are the service interval milestones?

2) Is there a link to a PDF version of a service manual that i could download so i'm aware of what's needed and when?

As my annual milage in a year will be pretty low i may just get it serviced at the start of each spring and get detailed printouts

...your thoughts and advice please?

Your User Manual tells you this .... P52
  • Running in service @ 625 miles
Basic Service every 4687 miles or 8 months
Full (valve check) Service 9375 miles or 16 months
Strange numbers as they are converted from Km.
Your dash will show "service" when a service is due (based on mileage not time)

This was asked recently but the consensus was that we've never seen one.
Most of the information about what needs doing is in your User Handbook, more detail is in the Workshop Manual - both downloadable from Martin Poll's website: http://www.martinpoll.dk/div_april.htm

Sounds like a reasonable plan - obviously Aprilia recommends every 8 months so I'm not going to advise differently ..... but mine doesn't get serviced that often :smt002

I change my oil twice a year and fluids once a year. This winter either griff or carl will be doing the clearances for me.... Other stuff, brakes etc I do as needed

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

I have to say all I've done to mine in oooh, about 3 or 4 years of ownership and approx 9/10k miles is an annual oil/filter change. Well, apart from shedloads on mods, obviously :smt002

I haven't even needed pads or a chain yet. It's on about 15k now - has anyone actually had any valves adjusted? Or just checked?

Do you ride that much, or do you just like to pamper the bike?

Check mine religiously every other service as per the book. Result, valves haven't budged a thou since new and she's got 44K on her now.

Think I'm wasting my time :smt017
