Mirror vibration/looseness

Aye up

My right hand side mirror is vibrating badly 'cos the mirror is loose, moving quite a bit when pressure is applied around the edges (when c.f. to other mirror thats solid).

I don't want to be riding along and then pop, smash... so is it servicable? Has anyone had this issue and just popped it off and stuck it back on? Whats a good thing to use?

I'd rather not go and buy a hole new unit...

where is it loose?

if like many it is where the two bolts go through the fairing and into the subframe - the fairing holes are too large, then a carefully applied large o ring or two will make it snug....


Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

the actual glass is loose, the rest of the mirror is fine (although maybe its worked loose becuase, as you say, the fairing holes are too large so I'll check that).

looking for a new mirror at a guess

and it just so happens i have a pair second hand in good condition - may me a decent offer and they are yours

(Thinking around 20 quid plus a fiver postage for the pair)

seems a shame to have to buy the entire mirror! has anyone prised off the glass and stuck it back on?

There is a thread on here somewhere with someone fitting indicator LED's to the back of the mirrors can't remember who though (not much help am I) Anyway there were some photo's on the thread of his work and he had removed the mirror glass. I'll have a look to see if I can find it.

if you can get it off without breaking it, tiger seal will sort it.leave it over night and it won't move again.

Go round the edge of the glass with some black silicon sealant from Homebase or wherever.

Take the mirror off and leave it submerged in some petrol overnight and the glass should come off quite easily.

Let it all dry and glue back in place.

Cheers for the tips guys, I'll try and take the glass off and stick it back on - regarding soaking it in petrol, with this degrade/fade/damage the plastic at all?
