Chain link needed

#1 Post by paddyz1 » Tue May 25, 2010 11:05 pm

Anyone got a Regina 525 inner chain link spare? Not the one that you hammer together but the one with the holes in.
Failing that i think i may have to remove the adjusters or the adjuster lock nut at least. Just done the swingarm swap and now my chain is not long enough :smt013

Cheers

Have you talked yourself out of "the other" mod then Paddy or is this just a temporary measure?

I'm sure I've bought one previously, twas from a bike shop in Cumbria, so they are available separately. No shops locally that you could talk nicely to? Or perhaps someone like Demon Tweeks for mail order?

Haven't got one I'm afraid, used it previously.

I usually use http://www.bandcexpress.co.uk for chains (they also do bearings and stuff)
Cant see regina listed, so doubt they would be of use in this case, you could phone them and enquire, they'll probably be able to source something or point you in the right direction.

Give Bill Smiths in Chester a ring.

They do them.

I'm not sure about this, but isn't there a quick fix by turning the adjuster blocks round?

.... and in that thread just ignore all of the complete and utter rot about it changing your wheelbase - if you are using the same chain it won't change it at all as it is the chain length that governs where the rear wheel sits.

Unless you have adjustability in the engine mounting and can vary the position of the countershaft sprocket relative to the frame, you can only vary the rear wheel position by adding or subtracting whole links (unless you don't tension the chain correctly)

Nice one Falken, pm'ed you

Turning the adjuster plate almost worked but the spindle bottomed out against the swingarm. I could force the old link in but the chain was tight and would have left me with zero adjustment.
