Ban those bloody England flags on cars !!!

#1 Post by HowardQ » Tue May 25, 2010 12:32 pm

I copped for my first England flag today! Grrrrrrrrrr.

There has been lots of silly publicity about having England flags flying on almost every car being banned on the grounds that some of the people living in this country might be seriously offended by them.
What a load of bollocks, they should all be banned on Health and Safety Grounds. Grrrrrrrrrr again
I was on my normal run out on Saturday afternoon riding down the A road between Ollerton and Newark on one of the long fast straights, with a number of cars in front. All seemed to have assorted sized flags fitted.
Let's just say I was travelling quite quickly and just thinking of overtaking the first of these cars.
Not sure if the flag came off one of these cars or was lying in the road already, but up flies this bloody flag straight towards me. Oh shit!
Fortunately it did not do the classic cartoon round my visor and helmet trick, it just wrapped itself around my left arm, and I managed to pull it off and release it for somebody else to play with.
I now intend to right to my new MP asking that flags on cars are banned instantly along with flag poles of all sizes, ..... and well the England football team should be banned and then again the World Cup should also be cancelled, football fans should all be shot (Other than long suffereing Sheffield Wednesday fans obviously as relegation is enough for one year!).
Leeds, Man. United and Chelsea fans should obviously suffer a much worse fate, England flags or not, especially those superior looking Man U fans with Green and Yellow flags :smt003

Signed - Mr. ANGRY Biker.

Obviously a joke, but with a serious theme!

Anybody else been "flying the flag" recently?

Be simpler to ban cars. :smt002
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

I shall be working out how to fit one to my bike and they'll be going up on the car too .... at least until we get knocked out .....

I was gonna get a selection from every country, so that I could support all our opponents as the matches are played. Then I can become truly unpopular..........er, and probably a nice target for some :smt098

Cant stand the World Cup 'Patriotism' that emerges whenever England attempt to play Football. A Flag is for life, not just for Football.

Dont get me started on some of those alleged Patriotic (read National Front) facebook groups too.. racist bastards hiding behind the 'but we're not racist' sentence in their group descriptions. My Mag holds 30 rounds. I would quite happily unload 20 into the enemy and 10 into them.. Twats.. Inciting racial hatred is as bad as being a terrorist! They give it all the 'we support our hero troops' then incite more of our minority groups in UK to turn and join our enemy through their actions and ommissions on groups like that....!! They support us yet get us slotted at the same time, yet the fuckwits cant see it! :smt013 :smt013 :smt013

Anyways.. Flags.. yes.. no problem with them.. it's just the mindless fuckwits amongst those decent, honest, good natured, Englishmen and women flying them that I have problems with.

Yes. There's a big difference between honest, reflective patriotism and the chest-beating, cock-waving, often booze-fuelled jingoism that sometimes makes one ashamed be an Englishman abroad.

Too true ... and they seem to drag a fair number of ordinary people into joining them too giving them an apparent credibility.
Part of me wants to ban them and part of me says that denial of free speech is part of the slippery slope to where they would have us be.

I'm fairly ambivalent to this. Yes, there seems to be a lot of jumping on the bandwagon but although only rooted in a game and only as deep as our last win, there is a general coming together of the nation which is not something that we often see. A bit of a shared hope is not a bad thing from time to time.

I agree with this.

I don't fly a flag pf any particular hue myself as I believe in my own Englishness enough not to bother. It does upset me (upset may be too harsh a word but miff sounds a but girlie) when yet another report of yet another perfectly innocent flag waver being denied the right in case he/she offends someone of another nationality/belief system comes up. If it upsets them so much then I would suggest a move to another part of the world may be in order.

However, I will be supporting our poofballers in their efforts to not embarass thenselves in the early rounds again.

And then I shall be once again giving THE beautiful game my full attention. :smt002
I'm right 98% of the time so why worry about the other 3%?

Does anybody care that an old fart like me was viciously attacked by some evil flag whilst out on a quite weekend run. Grrrrrrrr
Then again perhaps it was some evil plot by Nick Griffin and the BNP, who plan to assassinate all bikers as not enough of us voted for them a month ago.
Interesting plan to release flags in front of bikers to blind them a cause accidents.
Obviously they would then stop and remove the flag and claim that it was all down to the biker travelling at excessive speed, which will obviously be believed.
It's not like I was riding something green like a bicycle or a horse, so it must have been the "biker's" fault! Grrrrrrrr

Anyway, whoever heard of a George Cross flag doing anything evil?? :smt017
(Well not since the Crusades anyway!)

Obviously serious, but but still a joke!

(let's see how many I can wind up this time!)

Sorry good point Herbie, I had forgotten about that, let's delete that bit!
We can all get out and enjoy a good ride, whilst the flags are all in the pub.
