Ben Wilkins Tracked Down Again ....

#1 Post by D-Rider » Mon May 10, 2010 4:39 pm

For those that like to keep up with the whereabouts of our Falco-riding-journo ....

I wondered where he'd moved on to having recently disappeared from PB magazine.
Mystery solved thanks to my network of spies (that's not the American Ben BTW)

Agent Wooley (codename "Griff") reported in today and it seems that Ben has now moved to Classic Motorcycle Maniacs Magazine (or something like that)

has he been assimilated yet?

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

I read something about this in SuperBike mag. I think he went over to Mortons Publishing with Mr Rose (Steve is it??? ex Bike Mag journo)

We always said the Falco was a classic now he's proved it :smt003 :smt003

If you mean Ben, he's been on the forum for ages but seldom posts.
Username is Benwah

As for Griff, we need to twist his arm a bit to join .... tends to be a bit popular on a lot of forums (or is that fora ?)

Howdy doody :smt006

How're all things Falco?

Yep, I've left PB and picked up the job as Editor of Classic Motorcycle Mechanics. There won't be any Falcos in there - not for a few years yet anyway!

But...

My Falco will be making some appearances in Motorcycle Sport & Leisure. I'm in the process of turning it into a hillclimber (on tarmac, not those crazy bikes with 12ft long swingarms).

Mods so far:

RSV headlamp/fairing mount
RSV top fairing (chopped down accordingly)
LSL bar kit (but modified with taller risers)
PCIII with custom maps for RSC and std cans (done today at BSD)
Rene airkit (modded with PiperX breather filter)
Crash bungs (R&G)
Technoflex rear shock
KTech revalve in the forks
Spare set of wheels with wets

(I guess it's what a lot of Aprilia peeps call a Falcuono - I prefer Falclimber. :smt003

I'm sure there's more but can't think of anything at the moment.

I've somehow talked Griff into competing with me this year - on his Haprilia SXV450.

If anybody fancies coming along to say hi - we'll be at most of the road legal NCHA rounds (I'm keeping mine as a road bike).

Ben

Yeah - Griff mentioned that last time I spoke to him - sounds fun.

Maybe try to make one or more of the rounds.

Good call from Pete re this weekend's Club Aprilia bash - a bit short notice .... but if you can ....

I done gone and bought another Falco...

Hillclimbs are suiting my road Falco, so I've bought another to strip down to the minimum and assault a few hills with. It's a bit of a knacker but I have high hopes for it once I've stripped 25kgs off it.

Should be interesting!
I assume the 25kgs is after putting aftermarket cans on it, otherwise that'd be cheating! :smt005
