Am I mad

#1 Post by philgro64 » Sat Apr 17, 2010 10:27 am

Been riding bikes since I was a boy and had convinced myself I needed to go down the sensible route due to shoulder injury and finances. Been riding Italian twins for about 10 years(3 ducatis and an RSV) My brother, a BMW rider had persuaded me to go down the Beemer R110rs route and duly went to see one with him the other night. Wasnt sold on the looks and even less so on the ride, vague, spongy and uninspiring. Cue next day surfing web and found a (fairly) locally advertised Falco 2000 in Black. Phoned the seller went to see it and almost instantly knew it was the bike for me. After not much haggling agreed a price of £1550. The 'am I mad bit', it has 38000 miles, little service History but it does look and feel like a good honest bike. The shock issue has been attended to and it has a scotoiler. Pick it up Monday night and cant wait. Already considering my first purchase for it. Definitely want a belly pan and most of the bolts have seen better days. Bit of painting wouldn't go amiss either. I will no doubt be a regular poster in the coming months as I seek the assistance of you seasoned Falco veterans. :smt002

Welcome - sounds as though you are going to have a lot of good knowledge anyway with your history of Italian twins - especially the RSV.
Make yourself at home.

Welcome,

I think you got a bargain. That is silly money and don't worry about the 38000 miles, mines heading for 50,000 and runs as well if not better than at 10,000. More important is unscratched paintwork, ally and any extras.
Don't put off 'till tomorrow what you can enjoy today

welcome Phil, as the rest of the guys say, it's a real buzz riding one of these Italian beasts. Loads and loads of info on this site and a wealth of knowledge from all the members, post up some pics when you get her.

Enjoy.

ffs , £1550. Gonna be cheaper to buy a new bike than a friggin engine at this rate.

Thought rare meant expensive :smt009

Mad :smt017
You must be Mad to think you're Mad.
The best bike you could buy in the best colour, you'd be mad not to mate.
I've had a 2001 in black for nearly 6 years, it's the best bike I've ever owned.
Hope you enjoy it, then again if you've had a V60 you'll know what to expect.
You sit more in the Falco than perched on it with the RSV and the bars are that bit higher to make it more comfortable and easier on your shoulder, how could you go wrong.

welcome

whats your credit rating like?

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...
