That's a tidy bike. :smt001
Sorry to hear about the car.
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

Oh man, you can't sell that - they sure do look nice in red.
Don't know what you're expecting to pay to get the car fixed, but it's a shame you're not near me in Shropshire, as the mechanic I use is top notch and dirt cheap. Just hope you can find a way of fixing the car without too much expense. I see there's folk on ebay doing a fitting service for £900ish so I guess that's the sort of sum you're looking at. I can sympathise. My wife's car shredded it's cambelt adjuster and I'm now in a battle with a firm over 2 recon heads they sent me which were crap. I've got a bill for near on £900 and the car's no better than the day it went bang.
Fingers crossed you'll have a better outcome mate - It's a real shame to have to sell your lovely Falco for a rubbish car.

I had a reconditioned gearbox and clutch done a few months back on one of our cars - I think that cost something like £500 (though the chap who runs the garage is a friend).
I know these things vary but can't you get a better quote from somewhere? - strikes me as a lot.

As for Japanese cars - I've been driving them off and on for best part of 25 years and have generally found them great .... the Toyota that my wife forced me to trade in for something newer when it was 18 years old (I had it for 15 yrs) was still going strong.
I think you've been rather unlucky with your experience.

Hope you can get things fixed a bit cheaper and keep the Falco - if not and it has to go, I hope it goes to a good home and you get a good price for it.
If I hear of anyone looking I'll point them to you.

Sure if it was a focas or Astra would be less then half the price, but diesel rav4's seens you have to add a zero to any repair.Could get breakers yard box for 900 fitted but prob be no better then the one i,ve got in 6 mounths. As for the merits of Jap cars prob own 25 cars over the years all makes and had more trouble with this one then then any of the Rovers,Alfas,or Fiets.Perhaps i'll just stear clear of toyotas, not alone there though.

Noooo surely not?

Is it just that you can't solve the suspected sprag issue or you now know the problem and it's worse?

I think we've not been the best source of info as few have had this apart.
I know Pierre did his and he has posted a bit on here recently .... a PM to him may help you shed a bit more light .....

One of the other chaps pointed me to this post, I'm sorry to hear you may have to get rid of it, but if you do I could give it a nice loving home.

I honestly hope you get your car fixed without selling the bike, but if the worst happens give me a shout.

I just sold my FZR and am looking for a falco now.

Have you thought aobut buying a written off RAV4 and swapping the engine/gearbox? It may be a slightly cheaper option if you can do it yourself.

Phone Don Plane at Southern Cross.
Tell him Tim from Ridersite.com said to speak to him about it.

Don or one of the guys, but probably Don, will have the answer.

Tell him what youve done and what you were trying to achieve and could he shed any light on a solution before you scrap it , lol

Also ask him if he still has access to renegade airkits (more for the Site's info so i know where to send people for them)
