#1 Post by willmoir » Sun Apr 11, 2010 9:29 am

due to elbow problems (old age) i will need to change the bars anyone in the grampian area already done this?
if so i would appreciate any feedback or possible look/seat on the altered riding position
the 2 options i am looking at are superbike comfort kit or convertibars

i chosse Convertibars and i´m very, very happy. You can change the ride position in few minutes with an only one allen key.

Where abouts are you? The cheapest option is to put your clip on's over the top yoke (sorry tommy ;)). Colud meet up if you're somewhere around so you can have a look at mine, see if you like it.

I've managed to get some clip ons now, so i've put my comfort kit top yoke and risers on ebay (With extended clutch and brake hoses)

bars over triple clamp is easiest and cheapest solution

search here for assorted members who have done it....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

.... they are the crocks .... I would have said "old crocks" but most of them haven't reached the level of maturity of some of the rest of us who are more than happy with the standard riding position .....

Even cheaper is to strengthen those arms with exercise 3 times a week.

Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side.

With a 5-lb. potato sack in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides, and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, then relax.

Each day, you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer.

After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb. potato sacks.

Then 50-lb. potato sacks, and eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb. potato sack in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute.

After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each of the sacks; but be careful.

In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

I have Helibars on my bike following a couple of broken wrists (and being an old crock) - not a dramatic difference in height but they do make for a more comfortable ride and are about as high as you could get without clashing with the fairing I think.
