The falco addiction

#1 Post by k1w1boy » Fri Apr 09, 2010 4:49 pm

...so here I am, the mechanical numpty of numpties, enjoying my progrssively more rat than falcon Aprilia, contemplating the 'shiny easy different' solution over the 'time and money consuming' fix-it route. I know I want another v-twin so I look at ducati st's, suzuki sv's and Honda vtr's but almost every review I read harks back to the bang-for-yer-buck financial sense of the falco. Have never bought the same bike twice, but am sorely tempted ...

or why not just work with what you have....

acquire a new set of body work - over time, then send it all off to dream machine with some money....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Yeah - from what I remember there wasn't much up with yours other than plastics and fairing bracket ..... once you've got the bits that's no more than a Saturday morning's work.

Nice to hear from you again BTW ... are you coming to the Club Aprilia weekend ?

This time last year I was in czech on the thing. Can see your point aladin, just reluctant to wait especially when falcos are being sold, with all the tasteful goodies I shoulda shopped for in the first place (before I discovered this site) on sale. Patience is a virtue etc lol

well you can get the goodies now.... and make it your own bike

and by picking up new panels etc you can choose the colour you want

If you want a good start I do happen to have a spare silver tank and a set of black sidepanels that I really should move on.....

The panels are in good order but have been cut for the high engine protector bungs....

and no idea what such things are worth :)

Likewise D- have been a lurker here but I'm sure you know what it's like when you 'fall out of love' with a thing and it becomes a tool rather than an idol. Still need a steering lock-stop and both brakelight switches for my mot before I worry about the cosmetics (am still on a bungied front end which will cost me 1-2 hours spanner monkey labour to swap). The Aprilia weekend sounds cool - whatever I'm riding. Lol. Thanks for the sales pitch aladin - my tanks fine (despite my dumbarse removal of a sticker that was oem and the resulting lacquer hole) May yet take you up on th side panels as mine is an 'old blue' lol

You could buy a pretty nice Falco for a little over 2K and then sell off yours as a whole or in bits.

Might make some one an interesting track bike. If it were cheap enough I might even be interested.......

Whichever way you go Kerry, (rebuild or replace), stick with a Falco.
You know you'll regret it if you don't.
