Spark plug gaps?

#1 Post by rick » Thu Apr 01, 2010 6:58 pm

I'm now armed with four Denso Iridium IXU27 plugs and will fit them this weekend... now I haven't looked at the manual yet, but if I recall on my other bikes Mr Haynes says one thing, manufacturer says another, and unsuprisingly the actual owners have their own ideas!

So... what gap should I use for these plugs?

Cheers in advance!

Well the manual and that link above says 0.7mm... and you never guess what gap they all were... you guessed it, 0.7mm... so at least in this instance fastasfuck is correct! :smt002

So anyway its all done... removed fuel tank, airbox (which consisted of a carbon tray and a large foam filter!, and the changed all plugs. There wasn't much crud at the front so should be ok..

One thing I did notice was that the plugs from the front cylinder did have a large amount of carbon deposit, whereas the rear cylinder did not.

Sounds like it! No wonder he liked riding the bike back!

Youre in a rather exclusive club rick. Rene Airkits are a quite sought after item nowadays

Reckon you might want to get (or check) the idle mixture.

Congratulations on the Rene kit :smt001

Don't pay any attention to them extoling the virtus of the rene air kit, they're just ragging on the new boy. Look, just send it to me and I'll send back a proper airbox and we'll say no more about it. No need for thanks I'm just a helpful sort that hates to see a fellow picked on.
