I always hated diesels until I got a high performance diesel car, and now I have been totally converted.
The 2.4 20 valve Alfa has 284 ft lbs at 2000 revs, which is more than a standard 911 and does nearly 50 mpg commuting.
I still find myself thinking what would a modern turbo diesel be like in a bike.
Even a Harley Tractor with a 1200 diesel with half that torque (140 ish ft lbs) would go like stink, (Literally being a diesel

) and not be any more agricultural than the standard Harley with the same sort of red line.
Might also get near a hundred mpg.
Diesels don't have the sound or smoothness, so you would not really want a diesel sports bike, (we have V Twins for that.

), but they do have the grunt and economy.
