Stealth tax on fuel!

#1 Post by BikerGran » Mon Feb 15, 2010 8:43 pm

Apoparently when VAT was temporarily reduced to 15%, the Chancellor added 2% duty to fuel to offset the reduction in tax collected from motorists. Now that VAT has been increased to 17.5% again this hidden tax has not been removed - hence recent rises in your fuel costs. Sign the petition at the link below to have this stealth tax removed!

Damn - I knew that fuel didn't go down when VAT was reduced - I think I heard that the VAT on fuel hadn't changed so assumed that when VAT went back up (not that I realised this was happening 'till it happened) that the tax on fuel would have no change.

Hadn't realised that they'd whopped on another tax and just left it there.

I've signed!
