“The dual clutch transmission is an innovative new technology,” Seidel said. “Will it replace manuals? Probably not. But it is technology that works and adds fun and excitement to riding. Riders will also appreciate the fully automatic mode for stop and go city driving”

Be interesting to compare this with Aprilia's approach for the Mana - CVT transmission that is controlled electronically to operate as a 7-speed box in manual mode.

One of our mates really rates the semi auto shift on his FJR. He says you have to live with it for a few weeks before it all starts to make sense, but once it does you won't want to go back.

just more to go wrong if you ask me , and you wont be able to fix it yourself , so expect big bills when these systems go wrong , maybe the next generation bikers after we have gone will be using these when the only thing they have to worry about is stayin upright :smt002 , but i like to be in full control of my bike , it takes skill you know :smt001

I was going to write a diatribe on how all detractors of modern technology are luddites. But then I thought 'Sod it. They're grown ups. Let them make their own minds up because I will.'

I was going to list half a dozen examples of modern technology and give the reasons why it has made biking more fun as well as making it safer. But I can't be arsed.

It'll be seen as an aspirational thing and will sell to a certain group.

... maybe including the fact that although there may be more stuff to go wrong, the reliability of most of this stuff is so much greater that there are actually far fewer problems ..... (thank goodness we don't have throttle pedals on our bikes though ........)
