What have I done??

Been thinking seriously about what I want from biking since the loss of my best mate last August.

After really enjoying my last two trips to Spain and (drum roll please) my wife deciding after 20yrs that she will "try" a trip as a pillion I've taken the plunge and bought one of these. This year we are riding from Spain through the Pyrenees and back up through France. The T is a great bike but 300 mile days last year were killing me and despite packing as well as I can, the T ain't ever going to be able to take my wife's luggage as well





I've still got the T at the moment but I do need to sell her as space is now a "major" issue

Time will tell if I've made the right decision but I needed a new direction.

Wish me luck!! I think I might need it, its got a WW1 plane engine in it fer christs sake!

So Falco9 (F9) ..... went to Tuono9 (T9) .... now to BMW9 (B9 .. or .. Benign) ....

If your mrs is going to tour with you, then Falcos, Tuonos are No-nos - you can't sit cramped up all day on their pillion perches - my boys won't ride long distances on the back any more.

So yes, I guess you've done the sensible thing ..... a sort of biking "people carrier"

Next thing you'll be joining the IAM and doing your advanced test.

There were loads of these when I did mine.

But they all used to drool over the Falco.

Allso they handle brilliant on the twisties, and will outrun most sports bikes especially if the going is a bit bumpy.

Rich - I logged on just now and immediately wondered if you'd sold the Tuono yet. Great looking BMW.My mate has just picked up his new K13000s. I went with him to Grimsby when he did the deal and was admiring the big GS.

My wife came on a lakes trip in Sept on the Falco. A couple of full days in the saddle and she wasn't too bad at all. She is quite small and we had loads of stops. Don't think it would be ideal for her if we were crunching really long distances though.

Slow response, as I've not got over the shock yet Rich!
I don't have your willpower, decided on getting rid of the old CBR Thou to get a something like a Blackbird with luggage and very nearly bought a ZRX1200S with full luggage. Idea was I could do some more gentle touring myself, just possibly with the wife if it was comfortable enough.
Then I went and bought a really nice ZX9R to share the garage with the Falco, OOOOOPS.
Seriously though, if this keeps you biking in a different way and you also have enjoyable touring holidays with the missus, good on yer mate.
The bike looks really nice and they always seem to be going pretty quick when ridden by somebody having fun.
To be honest they do have quite a bit of character as well, and it is another big twin after all.

Ironically because of the insurance timings I actually haven't ridden it yet (I have ridden my friends GS's though) I've been up and down the street a coupe of times and cannot tell you how tight this bike feels. Its done 6k (a nice toy for an oil rig worker) and was serviced just 80 miles ago.

Hopefully it will fit the bill. This summer will be a learning curve though.

If anyone knows of someone looking for a nice Tuono for 2010 with plenty of quality add-ons to go with it please point them in my direction. I'll be mighty sorry to see that Tuono go, its been (still is) a superb bike and it goes like a train

More difficult for you than me, as you have much more invested in the two bikes. In my case it was very different as the Falco would have been worth about £2k plus, (but I never will sell), and got the ZX9R for £3k, (roughly £2k plus the old CBR1000). I thought what single bike could I get for £5k that would give me the pleasure of these two, no contest.
Hope you get things sorted and I actually think you will get to enjoy the GS.
Every bike mag tester, who nomally tests race reps or similar, always seem to like them a lot when they get to ride them.

Change the seat, its rubbish, nice for 100 mile rides but no support after that as the foam is prone to crushing down.

Nice to hear from you again mate.
I will look out for you and your brother at Willingham and South Leverton. Hope the weather does get better, thinking of fitting a snow plough on the front at the moment.
