World Superbike line up 2007

#1 Post by Stokesy » Mon Feb 19, 2007 12:07 pm

A week ago the most recent provisional entry list for World Superbikes was announced by FIM. It looked as though Neil Hodgson and Carl Fogarty had missed the boat, but they still had time. However, now they really are too late. Foggy has been waiting to secure the necessary sponsorship to would enable him to relanuch his Foggy team after the demise of the Petronas contract. He was still making noises until close to the deadline but in the end it has not materialised. Hodgson, for his part, was returning from a couple of years in AMA and looking for a decent World Superbike ride - despite being offered several British Superbike rides. It seemed that the two Englishmen had put their historic differences to one side in a marriage of convenience and so Hodgson held out for Foggy's sponsorship. Now it looks as though both men will be watching the 2007 series from the sidelines. It should, at least, give them the opportunity to be ready for 2008.

Pretty much everything else is as it was seen last week. There were two other riders waiting to be announced; Dean Ellison's team mate at Pedercini, and the second Team Yamaha ZYF rider. Neither announcement was made in time, and so the teams must run with a single rider.
