am thinking of sorting out the tail tidy etc and came across something that may be of interest and wanted to check with others

If there is not one there - ie I have removed it, then so be it.... I do not HAVE to have one?

I haven't read it but suspect that all you'll need for daylight riding is a speedo, horn,and reflectors.

Nice theory Pete - but I wouldn't take that info at 100% definitive.

It also states:

Rear Fog lamps**

- must be fitted to the centre or offside of the vehicle
- tell-tale must work
- must not be affected by other lamps and not be obscured
- must be red.

** Must be fitted to all vehicles first used on or after 1st April 1980.

..... well I've yet to see rear fog lamps fitted as standard on a bike - even those new-fangled ones made after 1st April 1980.

have read that, and from that, there is no need that I can see for a number plate light to be fitted - full stop

if you are riding at night you have to have a position light, and a reflector, but NOT a number plate light

any one else agree??

Yep. Having reread the original post, I was thrown by the link.
We aren't discussing MOTs I guess as much as a roadside check, or even insewerance invalidation.

it's an offence to ride at night with no number plate light,your only option is to go for a day time mot.
