My Good Ebay Deal

#1 Post by D-Rider » Sat Dec 12, 2009 12:19 am

A few days ago I won an ebay auction.
I thought I'd done well getting the following for £63 (plus delivery):
  • Upper fairing (minor rash)
    Headlight
    Mirrors
    Screen
I opened the package tonight ... not only was everything as described but in there were the following "extras"
  • Fairing sidepanels (very minor rash)
    Air Intake tubes
That funny bit that goes at the bottom of the fairing when you haven't got a bellypan
    A pair of indicators
I'm well chuffed :smt003

The seller is "fightering" their Falco .... so I pointed them to the forum.

Not sure if I've posted this in the right part of the forum though .... the fairing/headlamp is all part of my 400/4 renovation .....

Yes, nearly went for that as my upper fairing needs some work. Want to sell that bit? Could be an excuse to finally have a drink in Coventry :smt002

I'm looking at buying a funny bit at the bottom for a belly pan project. It's listed for £5.00 buy it now but if you wanted rid of yours I could probably muster a pint some time?

Yeah - no problem Keith - I've got 3 of the things - the one I took off my Falco and two others that I've acquired with various other bits I bought.
Let me know how you want to get it to you.

Thanks Andy, I'm going to be in Coventry next week. Not sure exactly when but when I do know I'll contact you to see if a meet is practical. Failing that if we get a sunny day one week end, I can pop over.

What's the plan for 400/4 Andy? Obviously not restoring it as standard.

LOL - I've not even told you what colour they are ! (Red BTW)

I'll have to have a look at condition. Wasn't really looking to sell but if you are in desperate need I could probably help you out.

A lot of ifs buts and maybes at the moment .... but it needs completely stripping and rebuilding.
It only ran in standard guise in it's first couple of years before I changed bits and pieces - so a "stock" rebuild was not entertained for more than a few seconds.

Thoughts are:
RS250 forks and wheels .... not sure whether an RS250 swinger will graft on that easily ... and shock mount may be an issue - so maybe just rebuild the Girling gas shocks I've got on there.
The Yoshimura pipe needs looking at - rather rusty - can it be saved? or used as a template for another? ....
Falco top fairing
Engine .... maybe a Yoshima kit ... if they can be sourced - or a Yoshimura 466 kit ... I know where I can get one of them.

A lot to do and many options ... and then I'll have to face the reality of what is practical. Progress will be slow as time and funds allow.

So far I've got the bike (had it for 32-33 years), the Falco fairing (offered that up and i think it looks good) and am awaiting arrival of the forks and bottom yoke ... ebay ....

Ah, no worries. I assumed cos you had a beige and black that it would be matt black ;)

Cheeky sod .... it's Olympic BRONZE and Black.
The side panels are Bronze and the black on the bike is gloss.

I might have a spare black sidepanel - not sure whether it's right or left ... or what condition it's in .... and it's not matt as it was off one of those Crow Black versions ..... I'll have to have a look

Oh, go on then, Jewish Gold and black. ;)

Cheers for the offer mate, but if it's not the matching matt black then it's of no real use :)

I thought on the colour match charts it was listed as RUST brown??

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...
