cos I've just about had enough of the sidestand.

Went to finsish off the fitting of the gsxr stand. Cut the sidestand switch cable, soldered the bits together, removed the remainder and made sure I could select gear without cutting out. Great, lovely, everthing seems to work, just stick the bellypan on and bike ready to play.............

bellypan will not fit with the gsxr stand. I must admit that there is a bracket missing which fits the botton left of the bellypan, but even with on in place I cannot seet it working. The problem is the stand catches the belly pan on it's way up, so I have to hold the fairing out and push the stand underneath. The stand also touches the fairing when fully down.

I will post some pictures, just couldn't face it at the moment, so just shut the shed door and left it. Gotta get it sorted byt the 6th March as it needs an mot by then

But can someone please tell me that I don't need a sidestand switch to pass an mot

Wouldn't have thought so. But you didn't say if it was working or not - just the moan about the belly pan.

My advice there would be to remove the bellypan !!

I know its not what you are asking, but the best option is still to go for the US-spec stand. I know its expensive but it might be worth it. It would solve all the messing about with switches and stuff and I am confident that AF1 would get it to you in time for the MOT.

Bum! I've done the gixxer stand (finished this weekend) but ain't put me belly pan back on yet. Will let you know how I get on. I'm scared now!

I managed to fit the falco sidestand switch back on too so have the full function.......if you check back through some of the previous posts I've done one which has a link on how to do it.

I've been tinkering with my GSXR stand today. I've had the OE Aprilia bracket bent by a local fabricator (actually it snapped, as it's a casting, so the two halves had to be welded in the end) so it's now halfway between its original position and the RSVPerky one, combined with the extra added kick-out from the GSXR stand the bike leans at exactly at the right angle now.

The stand plate thingy on the end does hit the exhaust spring when it's up, but I'm not that bothered about that. I've not tried it with the bellypan yet (lost the brackets

) But if I'm going to send my pan off to this guy in Leicester to get a carbon fibre copy made, I'll make sure it'll fit with the GSXR stand first.

Yep, if you've got a Skidmarx bellypan and fit a GSXR stand, you do need to get busy with the dremel (or dremel clone of course).

Didn't require too much to be removed when I did mine.

I have removed the sidestand switch. It was the easiest option and leaves less to go wrong. I soldered the 2 outside wires (as per a preious post) so it is a closed circuit now and the light/sensor is aways off. Totally happy with that bit.

Can't see from the picture, but does the bolt on your belly pand fit to anything? Mine does not, I guess I'm missing a bracket.

Hi gazuk,

Yes, there is a little bracket that comes with the bellypan ..... I may just be able to help you here .....

It was a few months aftter I bought my bellypan that I actually fitted it - by that time, I'd lost the bracket!
I bought a new fitting kit off of Skidmarx .... then (of course) a little while later the original turned up!

Think I know where it is ... I'll check later and let you know.

Is that the bracket where you have to drill and tap a hole in the engine? Any chance of a picture of the hole's location? I've lost the bracket and the instructions.

I had to place my bellypan bracket between frame and side stand mount to stop the firestorm sidestand from hitting the exhaust

this then made the sidestand hit the bellypan I used a longer bolt and spacers to move the bellypan out of the way.

OK ....

1) I've found the brackets, fitting instructions and rubber spacers (these go between the brackets and bellypan). I have the mounting bolts BUT the Allen Key sockets are a bit chewed (I used the good ones to replace some that were less than perfect - sorry)
PM me if you want the brackets gazuk.

2) Nooj, no drilling and tapping required. Bracket on LHS attaches under the bolt that holds the sidestand bracket. The bracket on the RHS fits under a crank-case bolt. I'll scan the instruction sheet tomorrow and post it up (it's after 1:15 am and I'd better get some sleep soon as I've got work in the morning).

3) I did take a quick picture of the LHS bracket - not the best pic but you can see the bracket between the bellypan and the sidestand bracket (picture is from underneath the bike looking forward and up). As you cn see, I retained the sidestand switch. Also, to use the Falco's sidestand spring, I had the fixing lug moved down the sidestand to opposite the lug provided for you to kick the stand down (although that lug could also do with being moved a bit).
