Mille Shock
Sorry - I know this has been discussed many times already, but - a white spring 1999 Mille rear shock is a straight fit in a Falco - maybe with shaving the valve to avoid rubbing with the frame. Correct????

That's right, some people get away without modding the valve, I had to dremel and file a fair bit off, (very carefully if you don't want to release the gas!).
If you are having the shock rebuilt, get a recessed valve fitted at the same time, then you will have no problems.
Mine is still a close fit, but has never been a problem since fitted.
I measured the length of the standard shock and decided to set the Mille shock a few mm longer via the threaded adjuster at the bottom. I still had the original Falco side stand at that time, so did not want to lift the rear too much. If you have a modded stand you can try a bit higher from the start.
I set all other settings as standard Mille, can't remember exact details, got them from a link on this site to a Mille manual, possibly via Ken's site. Seemed pretty good like that, so the only thing I have done since is set the sag.
The job itself was relatively easy for me as I used an Ultipro workshop stand, only problem for me was having to fit it numerous times!
I tried it with the valve as it was, no joy so took it off, shaved a bit off, no joy took it off again shaved a bit more, repeat a couple more times, before it finally fitted.
This swap is a very worthwhile change and improves the bike.
Only problem these days is getting an early Mille shock in good nick, mine was virtually unused and cost about 40 quid off eBay incuding delivery (Bargain!).

LOL - Grasshopper, you have so much to learn in the ways of ebay.FalcoJock wrote:Bummer - failed again. Fleebay had a 1999 Mille shock in good nick and I bid the minimum £10. It stayed that way for 3 days until less than 20 seconds to go, then went to £10.50. So someone got a good deal - but not me. I should have played the system but hey-ho next time I'll use the techniques.
The early bird shows his hand and pushes the bidding up ...... the wise lie hidden, waiting, poised to strike like lightning .....
Though this is not a good tactic for "Buy It Nows" !
