Bought myself some new gear after my off in May.
Instead of the IXS stuff I crashed in I decided to get some RST kit. Textile jacket and Leather pants from their Rift range.
It's bloody good stuff for the money. The jacket has a zip out liner, which means it's reasonably warm when the chills set in, or cool(ish) on the rare occasions when the sun comes out, properly adjustable cuffs and waist, a full length zip to attach to the pants, and comes with Knox armour pre-fitted. It's waterproof too as I found when it bumped it down 50 miles from home. The outer pockets leak though which would have been a problem if I'd had anything in them. The pants feel well made from quality leather which appears to be a good thickness. They took a day or two to break in properly but are now very comfortable all day long. They come with Kneesliders, two zip pockets (which you can get loose change in but sod all else), and the short leg fit my stumpy little legs properly.
We'll see if it lasts as well as the IXS stuff - though I hope not to crash test it - but it certainly feels excellent value for money.
The jacket and trousers were £260 for both from J&S.
Just need some new summer gloves now to replace the (awful) A* I've currently got. Glad I didn't have these on when I went for a slide. I'd have had no hands left.
So (so far) I can highly recommend RST Rift for quality and value.

Which A* gloves did you have.
When I bought some new boots at J&S Doncaster a couple of months ago I got a really good deal on some A* GP Pro gloves at the same time, which should have been £150 ish.
Most I have ever paid for gloves, but I am very happy with them, so far.
Previously had FT Air Rage roo skin and leather, which were also very good, but were much thinner, (as roo skin is). The A*s seem more substantial and have lots of little design touches that seem good.

The gloves are the short wrist length summer ones. Not sure of the name. Paid £62 for them and the quality is atrocious. The velcro on the wrist straps is coming away, some of the finger stitching has started to unravel, and they've never 'given' enough to be properly comfortable. It's as if they shrink every time I take them off?? They were 13 months old when the problems started, which equates to about 2500 miles use. Not enough to give VFM in my opinion.HowardQ wrote:Which A* gloves did you have.
