Another Nail In The Coffin Of Justice?

#1 Post by D-Rider » Wed Oct 28, 2009 9:39 pm

From what I've read on Pistonheads (see link below) the Government is planning to make the INNOCENT motorist liable for their defence fees - cost cutting as it is costing the Government too much money (25% of cases are successfully defended).
As far as I can see it will just stop people defending their innocence - other than the rich of course.

Maybe a better solution would be for the Government/police to take a bit more care about which cases they put before the courts and they won't be wasting our money in the first place.

If this succeeds there will be even less incentive for them not to prosecute the innocent.

There is a petition to sign (link to the petition is on the Pistonheads link)

well, i have now introduced myself to my new to me MP and asked for his views....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

But he refused to disclose how many names were on the NPOIU's national database, claiming it was "not easy" to count.
I'm no computer boffin but even I could ask a database to tell me how many names were on it!
