Servicing at 15k

#1 Post by sfoley1 » Wed Oct 28, 2009 5:34 pm

I ignored the service light about 1000 miles a go so it needs doing now. The bikes done 15,000 miles, I've done 3,500 of those since June.

The dealer gave it a service before I collected it so that would have only been basic. The last service it had with the previous owner was fairly major as the valve clearances were done.

So apart from filter, oil, spark plugs anything else major need doing?

Cheers

Simon

Have a look in the Workshop manual - it details a few more things than the Owners manual.

I did the same service a few months back - it is a minor one - mainly Filters Oil, Coolant checking tightness of various bits and pieces, greasing/ oiling things etc.
One thing it tells you to change every 4yrs is the fuel lines. I asked around on this one at the time and found no one who had done this.
Since then someone on AF1 reported his fuel lines were in poor condition which sent people into a flurry of checking them.
I suggest that you give them a good looking at - at very least .... (I hear they are rather pricey to replace).

If you don't have the workshop manual, visit Martin Poll's website to download it:
