RSV Sidestand

#1 Post by booshlite » Fri Oct 16, 2009 4:19 pm

Hi all I have been trawling the archives regarding a sidestand replacement for my ever tumbling mille :smt088 and have found info for falco mods but not for the RSV :smt009 the one I was most interested in is the "evil bay" aftermarket one.

What I would like to know has anyone tried this on an RSV :smt001

is i believe made to fit mille, tuono and falco??

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

I think the Falco and Mille stands are basically the same and therefore the same solutions should apply (though their part numbers are different so there is some doubt)

Some have tried these ebay ones. Most report good success though some have reported failure due to poor welding (though we think that may have affected the first ones produced).
I'm guessing this has all been fixed now as their advert states:
The sidestand has been subject to manual testing :

1.Bike pivoted on stand to simulate turning bike around or revolving rear wheel.

2.Bike tied down on ferry using straps to compress bike into deck.

3.This 4th Generation has been redesigned from customer feedback as follows: Substantially more welding to strengthen top saddle / Gap inside saddle widened as previous stands have been too tight on some models.
It's certainly one of the most simple fixes - the other direct bolt on being the Fireblade stand.

Of course all this depends on whether I'm right that the stand is the same ....

Thanks guys I sure it will fit no prob I was just after some some first hand feedback regarding its use on a mille.
I have read a good report on here about its fitment to falco stable not too vertical etc. :smt023
I will prob just go ahead and buy one although its always nice to get a first hand recommendation prior to a purchase :smt004

You can always compare Falco/mille stands tomorrow at the suspension day ..... if any of us still have a standard stand fitted .... which is probably unlikely .... though you never know.

Falco and RSV stands are exactly the same. I know, I've got both of them on the shelf in my workshop! :smt002

Same mods apply to RSV as falco too. I've got a GSXR K1 stand on my rsv now as I have on my falco and its spot on.

I bought one of those for the Falco but found it made the bike too upright, I got another made up 1 inch shorter which made the angle better. If you want my original, only fitted for 30 mins on the bike, then its yours for 25 quid inc UK postage.

Very easy to fit, 10 minute job.

If you want it PM me.

Side Stand...

#10 Post by GregD-UK » Sun Oct 18, 2009 11:00 am

Hi all,

You could try and trawl the american websites and AF1 for the american version of our side stand :smt002 It's alot thicker, stronger and leans the bike at a good angle :smt003

You might get a second hand one on the af1 site, like I did :smt007

One of the bestest mod's I have done....
My warranty is the clear/smoked tail lights around the corner!!
